The Brazilian invigorating drink made from the leaves of the evergreen shrub Ilex Paraguariensis refreshes us with a combination of citrus fruits, pomelo, orange and lemon, apples and an extract of the iconic Coca Cola flavor. Tea is an ideal drink for all students who are struggling through exam periods, for concentration and alertness, for all athletes who need a cup of extra energy during exercise and for all those who like to treat themselves to a refreshing drink, to which they also add a cube or two of ice .
The drink made from Mate Vita tea has also proven to be an excellent basis for making kombucha.
Ingredients: Brazilian mate, apple, pomelo, orange slices, orange and lemon peel, sweet blackberry leaves, natural identical aroma
Preparation:
Mate is traditionally prepared in a dried gourd called a mate or cuia and is sipped through a metal straw called a bombilla. Fill the gourd up to a third with crushed leaves and pour over it with not quite boiling water. Leave for about three minutes, then drink the tea through a straw. Add hot water again and after a few minutes, strain the mate through a straw. Repeat the process once or twice until there is still some aroma in the crushed leaves.
Alternatively, mate is prepared in the same way as tea: pour a teaspoonful of boiling water over it, leave for three to five minutes and strain. Drink without additives or add, as they like to do in South America, roasted sugar and/or lemon juice, you can also try (non-traditional) mate with milk.
