Product description
The Japanese term "fukamushi" or the English "deep steamed" in tea processing means that freshly picked young leaves are treated with steam for twice as long as other green teas before they are finally dried. This process makes the leaves softer and more delicate. Because of this they break more easily when dried. The final product therefore does not look as elegant as, for example, Gyokuro tea. It may also contain smaller particles. As a result, the prepared tea has a more intense yellow-green color and may have sediment. The taste of the tea is by no means grassy and bitter, but sweet and full. It leaves a very mild, soft aftertaste in the mouth.
Our tea comes from Ariake, in Kagoshima Prefecture, where they have a rich, three-hundred-year tradition of tea cultivation. It is made from Yutaka midori cultivar.
If you still don't have your favorite among green teas, it just might turn out to be Sencha Ariake Fukamushi :-).
