Product description
As opposed to the Chinese green tea, which is only rarely turbid, Japanese green teas are characterised by turbidity, caused in part by the L-teanin amino acid, famous for its antioxidant characteristics, which, according to the latest scientific evidence, seem similar to those of flavonoids, and in part by its method of production. The amino acid L-teanin is supposedly also responsible for the relaxing effect of green tea. After harvesting, tea leaves are treated with hot steam for a short time and get pressed during further treatment. This is why most of Japanese teas come in flat shape and their leaves uniform in size - wide, elongated or needle shaped. SENCHA YAMATO comes from Shizuoka on the Honshu island. It has a more pronounced taste, contains more caffeine and is high in vitamin C. Liquor is of light yellowish green colour and fresh taste that feels good throughout the day. Sencha is the basic and favourite Japanese green tea that makes up for nearly 3 of the entire harvest. There are many varieties of this tea, which differ in quality and in price. Our Sencha tea belongs to the class of higher quality tea.
