Product description

This is a peculiarity among teas, a category into itself. It is a green tea, but blacker than any black tea there is. A general rule is: the older, the better, and the more expensive. We can presume it resembles the ancient teas drunk in China a thousand and more years ago. It is a green tea that is additionally moistened, fermented with microorganisms, and stored in warm and humid place. During this process the tea changes completely, with microorganisms turning it into one of the most mysterious and famous Chinese invigorating beverages. It is of chestnut brown to black colour, mild taste, and unusual earthy aroma. Pu erh stimulates liver functions, accelerates elimination of toxines from the body and improves lipid metabolism. It increases awareness more than the green tea, and all of its characteristics can be further boosted with physical exercise following a cup of pu erh tea.  It is hard to define the quality of pu erh, as the Chinese rarely reveal how long the tea was really stored. Older tea namely develops a richer aroma and increases its healing potential. However, it is generally agreed upon that more uniform the leaves are in their shape and size, better is the tea quality. Less twigs and bigger parts of leaves there are, better is supposed to be its effect.  In order to produce this Pu erh tea, harvesting takes place early in the season, before the start of the rainy period, and only light and fluffy tea buds are carefully plucked.     PU ERH SUPERIOR has been aged for about three years. It has soft and earthy taste, which is less pronounced compared to more common types of this tea. The Chinese use teapots made from the so-called violet or yixing clay to prepare Pu erh tea.
